Gameplay

DYSMANTLE is a single-player survival game with a distinctive style of play. The premise is familiar enough: the world has ended, people have turned into zombies, and you, a brave warrior, have shut yourself inside a bunker stocked with food and water. After a year, though, those supplies run out, and you have no choice but to climb to the surface and look for a new place to survive. The storyline steers you through each location, but the world is largely open, so you're free to head wherever you like.

Progression is woven into movement in an entertaining way. In the opening area, for example, you'll have to smash furniture that blocks the way forward, but your crowbar doesn't deal enough damage to do it. By breaking a few items nearby and upgrading the crowbar at a campfire, you'll be able to push on. This pattern runs through the entire game: the deeper you venture, the rarer the loot becomes, and stronger enemies drop better rewards.

Game Features

Items can be upgraded too, as I mentioned earlier. Every new level calls for fresh materials, and you'll need plenty of them. The crowbar gains damage with each upgrade, while the backpack gains more slots.

Now for another handy feature: your backpack can only hold so much, but you can stash extra items in a special chest with effectively unlimited space. These chests are usually placed near campfires, which double as checkpoints where you can craft and upgrade gear.

Crafting works in a similar way. Open the recipe tree, pick the item you want to learn, and the game will consume the required resources to build it. Once it's made, you can upgrade it as well. Keep in mind that unlocking some items requires more than just gathering materials; you'll also need to level up your hero.

Players earn EXP by taking down zombies, finishing different quests, and stashing collected materials into storage containers. Gathering supplies is genuinely entertaining since nearly every object in the environment can be destroyed to harvest valuable components. Want leaves? Just cut down the grass. Running out of metal?
