Description and plot

Our hero finds himself trapped in a hellish dungeon and must clear 10 original levels. The player navigates a series of locations, each packed with different obstacles. Helltaker relies on standard mechanics common to most turn-based strategy games. Resourcefulness is key in every encounter, and each battle comes wrapped in a fascinating puzzle. A carefully planned sequence of moves and punches is what leads the hero to victory.

As you progress, you'll chat with the demon girls, since the dialogue drives the story forward. You'll be given different answers to choose from, and each one carries its own consequences. Picking the right line will help you get through the tangled mazes and catch the attention of the demoness. Gameplay also includes collecting runes, which you'll need for interacting with the pentagram in the game's final stage.

Other obstacles are worth watching out for, such as spikes and stones. To get past them, the Adbiratel needs Will units, a limited resource that gets spent on various actions. Pushing a stone costs 1 unit, while walking over spikes costs 2. The game also features skeletons that can be destroyed, along with locked doors that block your way to the next level. If your Will runs out, a blinding beam of light destroys the hero and the level restarts from the beginning.
