FreeCell's first computer version is thought to have appeared in 1978 on the PLATO system. A Microsoft developer came across that early build and created a Windows version of it. We also added a few tweaks that make it more comfortable on smaller mobile screens. Most notably, you don't have to tap a card to select it. Instead, drag and drop an entire column, and only valid moves will go through while the rest snap back. Cards also move to the foundation automatically whenever that's possible. Scoring has been simplified as well: only your move count matters, and the fewer moves you make, the better your score. Only the exposed card at the bottom of each tableau pile can be played. You can send it to a foundation pile, a free cell, or another tableau pile. Within the tableau, cards are stacked in descending order and alternate colors. Any card can be placed in an empty column. Groups of cards can only be moved when there are enough free cells and/or empty columns to move each card individually. To move part of a pile, drag the whole stack and the game will adjust automatically. Fill all four foundation piles to win.
