Description
Yokai Art: Night Parade of One Hundred Demons is an adult-themed strategy game from Secret Labo. It features a cartoon art style, a non-linear story, and gameplay inspired by the classic Plants vs. Zombies series. Instead of plants and undead creatures slowly shuffling across the lawn, the battlefield is filled with scantily clad heroines facing off against eerie shadow minions that pour out of unexplored dungeons. Strange? Absolutely! It all starts when the protagonist accidentally breaks an ancient seal, throwing the balance of the mortal and supernatural worlds into chaos.
Atmosphere, Gameplay, and Difficulty
Much like PvZ, the action in Yokai Art plays out in real time, so you need to come up with strategies on the fly. The developers encourage experimentation and quick adaptation to whatever enemies appear, and recent player reviews have praised this approach. It gives you plenty of room to test your own tactics in this unfamiliar world.
Beyond its rich and fairly demanding gameplay, the game also delivers a story to follow from a first-person perspective. The protagonist must figure out what is happening and restore order in the middle of a Japanese city. The weight of that responsibility is real, since every choice can change the outcome, much like in a classic Mario platformer. There's no time to sit on the sidelines, so it's time to jump into the fight!
