The RF-1 is built around a digital video broadcast receiver, a mass-produced and widely used device across Europe. Once it is connected to an Android tablet running the xradioinc software, nearby airline traffic appears on a scrolling map.
The map includes the following FAA charts: a) World Aeronautical Charts b) Terminal Aero Charts c) Low Enroute IFR Charts d) High Enroute IFR Charts e) Sectional Charts
Press and hold anywhere on the map to open a popup showing all text-based weather products for that location:
These text products include: a) METARs for current conditions b) TAFs for forecasts c) NOTAMs d) Winds and temperatures aloft e) AIRMETs, SIGMETs, and PIREPs f) Special use airspace details.
A popup button opens graphical weather products, including NEXRAD, graphical AIRMETs, and graphical SIGMETs.
