Their ships abduct civilians and expose them to strange, deadly diseases. In response, the nations of the world unite and form a classified unit known as XCOM, and you take command of it. Your headquarters lies hidden underground, where you can expand the base and unlock new facilities. Aerial defense is essential to protect each country, so your fighter squadrons will engage and shoot down enemy craft. You must also manage detection by deploying satellites over every nation, which helps lower the panic level there. Keep in mind that if panic reaches its maximum, that country will withdraw from the alliance and stop funding your operations. The depth of development is immense: by salvaging alien technology, you can research new weapons and equipment for every branch, whether aircraft or ground forces.
