The story follows a storybook kingdom in serious peril. Fantasy creatures have poured out of a mysterious portal and are attacking it. You take charge of an army, recruit distinctive warriors, and work to stop the darkness from spreading. The game offers charming cartoon-style visuals, a large selection of hero and spell cards, and spectacular battles.

Each game is split into levels, and in every one you must wipe out all the enemy creatures. Before a fight begins, you assemble a squad of warriors and place them on the battlefield. Out front is your main hero, a commander with a large health pool and sturdy armor. Behind them come berserkers, archers, swordsmen, mages, and other fighters. You can also choose magical abilities to unleash during combat. The battles run automatically: heroes locate enemies and attack them, so you mostly watch and step in now and then to cast magic.

Winning battles earns in-game currency and unlocks new locations. Chests hold gold as well as hero and spell cards. You can upgrade every character using spare cards and in-game currency, boosting attack range, damage output, health pool, and other stats. Build an unbeatable army and defeat all the enemies.
