The goal is to surround a single king, known as the "Sultan", with eight queens by the end of the game to win.To start, one King is removed and placed in the center. Seven of these foundation piles are dealt the remaining seven Kings, while the eighth receives an Ace of the same suit as the "Sultan". The foundation piles are built up in suit from King to Ace, so all eight piles finish with a Queen on top. No card can be played on top of the "Sultan".The game includes eight reserve cells, each able to hold one card at a time. At the beginning, one card is dealt to each reserve cell. The remaining cards form a stock pile, and cards from the stock can be moved to a waste pile one at a time. Two redeals are permitted, meaning the stock can be cycled through three times.
