SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI L Dx2 casts you as a devil downloader, someone who teams up with demons to battle rival factions pursuing their own dark agendas. Each encounter delivers intense matches where you pick the skill that suits each type of foe. Every enemy has distinct attributes and is vulnerable to specific attacks, so choosing wisely matters. As you win battles, you can summon new devils to strengthen your squad.
BECOME A DEVIL DOWNLOADER
The journey in SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI L Dx2 starts on a busy street, where the protagonist installs a mysterious app. Moments later, the app behaves strangely, and a figure named Einherjar materializes. He says he is searching for a person with the exact qualities he needs. Once you open the app, you can summon demons directly from it.
People who possess this gift are known as devil downloaders, and once you prove yourself, you join the Liberators. The Liberators are an organization built around a shared ideology, and they perform demon summoning rituals to pose serious threats to their rivals. Along the way, you will meet a variety of enemies, each with unique strengths and traits. Your summoned devils are the key to defeating them.
EXPERIENCE THE DEVIL’S BATTLES
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI L Dx2 pits you against many foes in different numbers and strengths, so you will gradually build a stronger team through further summoning rituals. Combat runs on a turn-based system in which you select a skill to strike the enemy. Each skill has its own properties, and learning how and when to use them takes practice.
Every character has an HP bar and an MP bar. Skills that consume MP force you to decide when to spend it, since you need to wait for MP to recover. Before attacking, make sure to exploit the attributes of the devils you face. Their attribute panel shows question marks for unknown information, along with resistances and weaknesses, which helps you attack the enemy more effectively.
Some skills, besides costing MP, carry an icon for a specific attribute. If your opponent is weak to that element, you will deal extra damage, while resistance works in the opposite way. Enemies whose attributes are shown as question marks, such as the bosses you encounter, can be hit by any skill and do not have special damage properties.
SUMMON CHARACTERS THROUGH AUGMENTED REALITY
One feature players will enjoy in SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI L Dx2 is the devil summoning ritual powered by Augmented Reality. You receive resources for summoning devils, and each one is linked to an icon object. Point the camera at the matching object in the real world and wait for the scan. When it succeeds, a blip appears and your new devil materializes, hovering within the camera view so you can capture its dramatic poses.
