Medieval kingdom adventure games have been gaining huge attention in recent years, drawing in players who love stories about rival houses battling for control of a realm. Reigns: Her Majesty is one of the best examples of this genre. It blends a unique tactical style of play with systems for building up your factions and joining the struggle for power. This series has quickly become a favorite pastime for many gamers today.

THE STORY BEHIND THE KINGDOM ADVENTURE

You may not know that Reigns is a series set in a fresh take on royal rule. Every game in the series focuses on life in the medieval era, when many people fought for power. The game puts you in the seat of a young princess who sits on the throne and runs her kingdom. At its core, the story is about rebellion aimed at toppling a ruler. It is also about a cultural renaissance that brings a new age of knowledge and enlightenment, set against greedy and envious schemers plotting against a kind queen. Players can think of it as a card game with a very original style of play. Instead of using cards to fight, you choose, govern, and rule your kingdom.

NAVIGATING A COMPLEX POLITICAL WEB

Because greedy people are always lurking nearby and plotting to end the ruler's life, players must steer through an increasingly tangled web of kingdom politics. In Reigns, you step into the role of either a cruel or a benevolent medieval monarch in a modern-feeling setting, and swipe left or right with your royal finger to impose your will on the realm. Those around you constantly want to harm the queen, so you need to handle the endless demands of advisors, farmers, and allies while keeping the factions that shape the nation in balance.

TAKING ON THE PLOTS AGAINST THE CROWN

As the name suggests, you play as a beautiful queen tasked with ruling a kingdom. Many players enjoy this series because it gives them plenty of reasons to keep going. As queen, you must not forget to fight off the invasion schemes of the allies around you. Each year, a new ruler takes the throne when the queen dies, and the process begins again just as it did when you first started. Unlike earlier entries, which usually had pleasant endings, this time the story revolves around the zodiac, so players will face some tough challenges as they progress through the stages.

UPGRADING SPECIAL ITEMS IN THE NEW INVENTORY SYSTEM

Keeping allied and enemy factions in balance is the key to success on your quest to run the kingdom. You will use a mystical inventory to find and upgrade special items through the new inventory system. Reigns also lets you navigate the increasingly complex politics of the palace and the personal relationships within your dynasty. You will need to play different cards for each character, swiping right or left to discard the ones you don't want. As you unlock unique paths in each storyline, the challenges facing your kingdom become more and more intricate.

THE ROYAL CHALLENGE OF REACHING YOUR GOAL

You can never predict what will appear in your court. As you take charge of a new kingdom, you will face a wide range of dramatic situations. As you encounter and take part in different events, you will also have the chance to discover new cards. These cards appear with a clever design that keeps the mysteries of what turns up in your palace intriguing. Reaching specific goals is central to unlocking new decks and finding fresh directions for your royal court. Still, you should think carefully before making decisions, because the consequences follow you throughout your reign. If you give poor political orders, you will have to find a way to rebalance the factions at your court.

EXPERIENCE THE POPULAR GAME

The game deserves praise for delivering an engaging experience with some of the smoothest and most appealing gameplay around. Its ultimate goal is to stop the allies who are hatching plots to kill the queen, and you are the one who must bring this endless conflict to an end. Become a powerful monarch and rule a renaissance court.
