===Getting connected===

We suggest testing the app at home or in the office first:

1) Make sure your computer and Android device are on the same Wi-Fi-enabled local network. 2) Install this app. 3) Download VNC 5 to your computer and activate a Free license, or start a 30-day trial of our premium security and performance features. 4) Connect!

Once you're ready to connect on the go:

5) Make sure both your computer and Android device have an Internet connection (for example over 3G, or through a Wi-Fi hotspot). 6) Configure your computer's firewall to allow VNC. 7) Configure your computer's router to forward port 5900.

===Security and privacy===

When you connect, you'll be asked for credentials. This protects your computers in case you share or lose your Android device. People often ask what these should be:

* If you activated a Free license for VNC 5, enter the password you set when you installed it on your computer. * If you activated a paid license (or started a trial), enter the username and password you usually use to *log on* to your computer.

We believe in being upfront, so please note that connections are only secure (encrypted) if you have activated a paid license for VNC 5 or started a trial. Connections under a Free license are quick and responsive, but end-to-end encryption is a premium feature.

===How to control===

Unlike a touchscreen where you click exactly where you tap, your finger moves the mouse cursor instead. This may feel unusual at first, but you'll soon appreciate the precise control it gives you over a high-resolution desktop, especially on a small phone screen!

Mouse actions are carried out with gestures. To double-click, place the cursor where you need it and tap the screen twice. To see which gestures correspond to other click, drag, and scroll actions, tap [?] on the toolbar to open the help.

To type, tap the keyboard icon in the toolbar. Function keys and other special keys, such as Ctrl, Alt, Delete, and the Cmd key on a Mac, can be reached through a slide-out bar that sits above the keyboard.

Beyond that, it feels just like sitting at your own computer! You can run any application, access any data, and carry out any operation you need, with no real limits.
