Pocket Spy Sound Recorder is a discreet audio recording app that turns your smartphone or tablet into a capable listening device that goes unnoticed by people nearby. It is well suited to gathering evidence or carrying out investigative reporting. Its main purpose is to capture sound covertly while leaving your device fully usable throughout.
Tapping the app icon launches a background process that begins recording everything picked up by your device's microphone right away. You get only a faint on-screen "Started" message to confirm the recording has begun, and it vanishes almost immediately, making it unlikely a bystander will spot it. Meanwhile, a notification labeled "Voicemail" appears in the Android notification bar, so anyone glancing at your screen is unlikely to find anything out of the ordinary.
Once you dismiss the notification, recording stops and the captured audio is saved to a file. A brief "Done" message then appears on screen. Tapping the notification instead also ends the recording, and it brings up a list of every file the app has captured. From there you can play, share or email the recordings, upload them to remote storage, or delete them.
