Phone to Tablet Music Remote is a Tools app for Android developed by FK33. Install it on your Android devices and turn your phone into a remote control for your tablet. Launch a music app on the tablet and play, pause, skip, seek or adjust the volume right from your phone. You can connect the two devices over Wifi or Bluetooth, and you can even load playlists and browse tracks from your phone.
This version lets you control playback using the buttons in the notification area and on the lock screen.

If your preferred app isn't on the list, you can still control it by entering its package name.
INSTRUCTIONS:
You can connect your devices using one of three methods.
1. Wifi Network (for example, your home network):
When you first launch the app, choose the "Wifi Network" option. On the playback device, tap the "Run Server" button. An IP address and port number will appear. On the remote device, tap "Run Remote", enter the server's IP address and port number, then tap "Connect". The playback buttons should appear shortly after.
2. Bluetooth:
Make sure both devices are paired over Bluetooth. When you first run the app, select the Bluetooth option. On the device you want to use as the remote, pick the device you want to control from the list and tap "This Device is the Remote". After a few seconds, the playback buttons should show up.
3. Wifi Direct:
Choose Wifi Direct when you first open the app. On both devices, tap "Scan for Devices" at the same time. Once scanning finishes, select the device you want to control from the list on the remote device and tap "This Device is the Remote". The playback buttons should appear after a few seconds, though this can occasionally take a little longer.
To switch between connection methods, open the settings from the menu and scroll to "Other options". There you can enable or disable Wifi and Wifi Direct. If both are turned off, the app will fall back to Bluetooth.
Once connected, pick the app you want to control from the dropdown list and use the buttons to manage playback. You may need to open the music player app on the playback device first.
PLAYLISTS:
Tap "Find playlists" in the remote's menu and the app will import every playlist it can find on your playback device. Choose the one you want, and its track list will appear on your remote. While all of your playlists should be detected, Phone to Tablet Remote currently supports playlist playback with only four music players: Poweramp, Google Play Music, Rocket Player, and the Android built-in player.
YOUTUBE:
When controlling the YouTube app, the back and next buttons only work during playlist playback. Likewise, the play/pause buttons only function once a video has already started playing.
ADDING APPS:
If the app you use for playback isn't in the dropdown list, select "Custom 1" at the bottom of the list. Then, on the playback device, open Phone to Tablet Remote, tap the menu in the top-right corner and select "Set custom app packages". Enter the package name of the app you want to control in the field for Custom app 1 and tap OK. You should now be able to control that app.
To find an app's package name, you can use a tool such as Package Name Viewer.
QUITTING:
Pressing the back button while connected won't close the app; it only minimises it. To fully exit, first disconnect by selecting "Disconnect" from the menu, then press back.
