Night in the Woods is an episodic puzzle adventure from the studio Infinite Fall, built around non-linear storytelling, a mystical mood, and an art style that stands out in its genre. The story unfolds in Possum Springs, a sleepy backwater town that keeps some very unusual residents out of sight: people with animal traits. Cat faces, crocodile snouts, and bear ears are common here. Though the townsfolk may look a little unsettling at first, they are warm-hearted and face life's hardships with real courage.
Atmosphere, Gameplay, and Events
Night in the Woods pulls you into its world right away, with no sign-up or SMS verification needed. Rather than walking you through a lengthy introduction or explaining the setting, the developers hand you a virtual joystick and invite you to explore the surrounding locations. Oddly enough, this feels much like a genuine adventure, where every step may lead to unexpected consequences and every detail has to be uncovered through your own experience.
Still, Night in the Woods (available on both iOS and Android) never leaves you wandering in the dark for long. Time sometimes slows down, and text details appear around you. The narrative is mostly text-driven, with information recorded in a diary and delivered through on-screen dialogue.
