It's a true action game at heart, and its quick, exhilarating combat with the virtual pad recreates the feel of the belt-scroll action games of the Super Nintendo and PS1 era. The responsive controls, double-tap dashing, and enemy crowds that pile in recall titles like "Kunio-kun" and "Final Fight," so players who grew up with the Famicom and Super Nintendo should feel right at home. The beautiful graphics are a key part of its dark fantasy style. The Japanese translation is a little awkward, which is the one disappointment, but overall it's really well made.

MASTER NEVER GONE BY SHIFTING YOUR POSITION AND USING COMBOS WISELY

Combine the attack, defense, and jump buttons with items and movement to unleash a wide range of moves. In the early stages, repeated hits from the A button are usually enough, but the difficulty ramps up quickly. Use the dash attack's kick to knock enemies back and buy time, or weave attacks between enemy strikes with aerial combos. Planning your approach is essential.

Against enemies that use projectiles, try shifting your vertical position as in "Final Fight," and reduce damage by countering while you guard. Overall, it's a really good game, and we'd love to see a more polished Japanese translation in future updates.
