myRouteMap is an advanced interactive route planner packed with features. You can build routes made up of a large number of waypoints, each set by entering a specific address, picking a search result, or simply tapping a point on the map. This is especially useful for long-distance trips. The mode of travel can be chosen separately for every segment of a route, whether driving, cycling, walking, or a straight line to cross a river. You can display an elevation profile and StreetView images beside the route, and StreetView can also be opened on its own with the map shown side by side. The app highlights the highest and lowest points along the route and can place height contour markers every 100 meters. It shows the total distance, total ascent, and travel time, in either metric (kilometers/meters) or imperial (miles/feet) units. Routes can be exported as GPX files in several formats for use on other GPS devices, and GPX tracks and waypoints can be imported and displayed. The map can be positioned and rotated to match your current location and direction of travel using GPS data. Wind information (speed and direction) can be displayed to help you judge its effect on your trip. Trip tracking is also available, so recorded journeys can be shown on the map and their speed analyzed. Camping and lodging locations from Google can be displayed on the map, and these can help you split a long route into multiple daily segments based on your preferred and maximum daily distance. Photos stored on your device can be displayed and placed at the GPS coordinates where they were taken. Spoken directions are available for every planned route, so you can follow along without having to watch the screen.
An internet connection is needed to create new routes, but routes you have already saved can be viewed offline without any connection.
The full version of the app is available for five days for evaluation. After this trial period, you can continue with a free but limited version or purchase the full version. It is a one-time purchase and well worth the price.
