Marine Navigator is an offline navigation app that uses raster navigational charts (RNCs) to plot your position in real time. This lets you navigate with true copies of official paper charts right on your mobile device. Beyond everything the Lite version offers, this full version adds these enhanced features: * automatic chart switching based on your current position and zoom level * scrolling through all charts available for your location by pressing and holding the zoom buttons * a count of available charts for your location shown on the zoom buttons * outlines of installed charts displayed on the active chart * chart rotation (True North, True Course, Compass Heading, or original chart orientation) * support for non-Mercator projections (Polyconic, Transverse Mercator, UTM, and more) using polynomials * support for geodetic datums other than WGS84/NAD83 by applying northing and easting * tracks, waypoints, and routes * automatic route following * an intuitive route editor * GPX import and export of waypoints and routes * GPX export of tracks * track recording in both active and standby modes * a compass (magnetic heading, true heading, and true north indicator) * several dashboard layouts (basic data, detailed route data, and detailed GPS data with graphical status info) * Man Over Board (MOB) functions * import and storage of installed charts in external folders * support for encrypted charts, including activation via email * switching between chart sets, supporting a large number of installed charts
Marine Navigator does not include any pre-installed nautical charts. Instead, it can import BSB/KAP raster navigational charts or use native Marine Navigator MNX charts (see Menu > Help for instructions). BSB/KAP charts are freely available for download online: * (A suite of NOAA nautical charts covering the coastal waters of the U.S. and its territories) * (A suite of CHM nautical charts covering the coastal waters of Brazil and its major rivers) * (NZMariner is the product name of New Zealand's official RNC folio) * (OpenSeaMap charts are based on OpenStreetMap data enriched with additional nautical information, covering selected European coastal waters). Native Marine Navigator MNX charts are offered by selected chart distributors. These charts are maintained by the distributor and are not free.
