Description

Limbo is a grim adventure from the studio PlayDead, built around punishing trials, black-and-white visuals, and experimental platformer mechanics. The story pushes the player to the brink of hell: a surreal forest populated by strange creatures who drift through dreams and have already become genderless ghosts. Amid these eerie characters, the protagonist, a nameless boy in search of his missing sister, struggles to survive while trying to understand the oddities of his own existence.

Gameplay, Atmosphere and Difficulty

Compared with other titles in the genre, the mechanics here feel fairly familiar, though Limbo leaves much of its story open to interpretation. The hero roams the map looking for his sister, a girl whose appearance remains unknown. The further you progress, however, the more questions pile up.

Apart from its unsettling story, the platformer can be perilous in other ways: the player often can't make out the light in a makeshift tunnel or any clue about which way to go to reach the next stage. Along the route, the young hero also comes across a person, though not an ordinary one, and the grisly state of the body raises more questions. How exactly did it happen?
