At first, your army fights only with swords, so your success when taking new islands depends largely on their strength. That means your main opportunities to influence the fight come before it starts, when you arrange your squads and upgrade them. The upgrade system is simple to understand, but it consumes a good amount of resources.

BREAK THROUGH VARIOUS DEFENSES

When the Island War screen loads, you'll see enemy buildings on the opposing island and your transport ships waiting below. Tap them, and your troops will quickly land on the shore and keep attacking the enemy soldiers and structures. The fight ends when one side is wiped out, and you'll earn gold and resources to keep strengthening your forces.

Upgrading is straightforward: match two identical troops that share the same star level, then drag one onto the other. The merged unit appears almost immediately, and your troop count keeps rising, letting you build a stronger squad. Some islands have defenses designed to stop invaders, so you'll need every advantage you can get.

UNLOCK TROOPS WITH VARIOUS POWERS

Island War isn't only about building an army. You'll also develop your island and strengthen its defenses. Your defense stats update as you build or add new structures. As you progress, you'll unlock new types of troops, such as long-range archers, which help you tackle tougher islands. The money you earn can also be spent on spinning new cards in the game.

Cards are revealed as surprises, and each new pack costs more than the last. With some luck, you can pull rarer cards with powerful abilities, giving you access to more ships to transport your troops.
