How farming works in Honey Grove

Farming is the core of Honey Grove, as it is in most farm simulation games. The farm area uses an isometric layout, with diamond-shaped plots aligned along a two-dimensional XY axis set at a 60-degree angle. To plant, open the Seedings panel in the bottom right corner and drag a seed onto an empty plot. Each plot can hold only one seed.

Growing and harvesting your plants

Every plant in Honey Grove goes through 5 stages: 4 growth stages followed by a harvest stage. During the growth stages, tap a plant to send the bees to tend to it. Depending on the plant type, the bees need a few seconds to care for it. Afterward, the plant takes anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes to advance to the next stage.

Once a plant reaches its harvest stage, just tap it to have the bees gather the crop. Honey Grove sorts crops into two types: seasonal and single-harvest. Single-harvest crops, usually root vegetables, disappear after one harvest and leave an empty plot behind. Seasonal crops, such as flowers and fruit trees, can be harvested repeatedly, and flowers keep producing nectar without needing to be harvested at all.

After harvesting, crops enter a resting state, which lasts several hours before they are ready to harvest again. You can skip this wait by watering the plants. Water is scarce in Honey Grove, though, so save it for when you really need it.

A wide variety of crops

Honey Grove features 113 different plant types, divided into 5 rarity levels:

• Common – 21 types
• Uncommon – 20 types
• Rare – 17 types
• Epic – 12 types
• Legendary – 43 types

Each plant has its own distinct look, and the higher its rarity, the more striking it appears and the more valuable its harvest. Whenever a seed you sow grows into a new plant, its details are recorded in the Collections.

How exploration works in Honey Grove

Exploration runs alongside farming throughout the entire game. You can send scout bees out to explore the areas around your hive to collect resources and seeds, complete side quests, or interact with the local wildlife. Each expedition needs at least one bee, a few drops of honey, and some time to finish. As your hive grows and gains more scout bees, you can assign additional bees to an expedition to cut down its completion time.

Most expeditions require nectar, so your farm should keep plenty of flowers at harvest stage to continuously replenish the supply that powers your scout bees.

The research system inside the hive

Research works almost like a minigame. Activities take place on a research table inside the beehive, which is built from hexagonal tiles arranged in a sequence. While exploring or farming, you can collect material pieces. Place these pieces on the research table and combine them to create complete materials.

Crafting is simple: drag a material piece into a slot holding the same type. Adjacent slots with matching materials combine using the rule of 3 pieces to create 1 complete material. Any leftover pieces return to the research table. Crafting will not trigger unless at least 3 matching pieces are present.

Unlike many farming games, Honey Grove has no shop for buying seeds. Exploration and research are the two main ways to gather seeds for planting.
