The app lets you work with the GPS and GLONASS built into your smartphone or tablet, so no extra hardware is needed.
The algorithms in the app perform precise geodetic conversions between systems, in line with official guidelines. Accuracy depends only on the device you install the program on.
With the app you can stake out or measure points in Poland's current state geodetic coordinate system. Cadastral, basic and topographic surveys and GIS systems all run on this system.
In line with the Council of Ministers regulation on the national spatial reference system, geoGPS supports the following coordinate systems:
– XY PUWG 2000, zones 5-8 (for the basic map and cadastral map)
– XY PUWG 1992, Meridian 19 (for the topographic map)
– XY PUWG 1965, zones 1-5
– XY UTM
– H in the Kronstadt 86 height system (designation: PL-KRON86-NH)
What geoGPS is used for:
– Collecting information organized into projects
– Gathering data as files linked to each project
– Measuring and staking out points in the PUWG 2000, PUWG 1965 and PUWG 1992 systems
– Measuring elevation in the Kronstadt 86 system (PL-KRON86-NH)
– Exchanging information (files) with other users over FTP
– Navigating to points using your mobile device's tools
– Documenting fieldwork with photos and documents
– Viewing data in Google Maps, Street View and Google Earth
