Description

Swordigo is a blend of RPG and platformer gameplay in which you follow a young swordsman on a quest to stop the Corruptors. Over the course of the adventure you'll move through many distinct levels and uncover new mechanics along the way. The story in Swordigo begins with a swordsman who wakes from a strange dream. Not long after, he discovers that his teacher has vanished without a trace, and he sets out at once to look for him. Crossing the forest, he arrives too late: his teacher lies dead. Beside the body he finds a note in which the teacher warns of an evil force known as the Corruptors.

Before he died, the teacher left his students crucial information: the Corruptors had returned. Shortly after the hero leaves, a black monster appears and strikes him with a blow so powerful that it knocks him unconscious. A doctor tends to his wounds, and the hero learns of a mighty magic sword called the Mageblade. It is widely seen as the only weapon capable of defeating the Corruptors, so he sets out to claim it.

Swordigo mixes RPG and platforming as you move through 2D levels and battle a variety of foes. You're equipped with a weapon from the start, and you'll spend time exploring each environment. Along the way you can smash certain objects, and if luck is on your side, they'll drop shards, the game's main currency. As you explore, you'll also come across helpful guides.

As you progress through different areas, you'll encounter character controls that explain how to deal with the obstacles and terrain ahead. These tips usually appear as signs marked with question marks, and as you approach them, information about the nearby hazard is revealed. Beyond the terrain itself, you'll face a range of enemies, each with attacks that follow patterns you can learn and exploit.

Defeat Enemies and Gain Experience

Some enemies in Swordigo are higher level or wear tougher armor, so approach them carefully, as there are usually clever ways to bring them down. Study how each foe behaves and recognize the rhythm of its attacks to find openings. For instance, a turtle that fires circular orbs can be struck so that the orb flies back at it, letting the creature take damage without you having to keep up a constant stream of normal attacks.

Swordigo features many enemy types, and defeating them rewards you with experience and shards that you can spend on essential items. When you level up, you can increase one of three stats: health, physical attack, or magic attack. Shards also let you equip powerful weapons to face tougher foes, and some of these weapons come with unique and valuable effects.
