EXPLORE A VAST WORLD AS THE STORY UNFOLDS

In battle, you enter a command for each character to act. The game flows in a familiar way: you travel across the field toward a destination such as a town or dungeon, where events take place. While crossing fields and dungeons, enemies appear at random and draw you into battle. This title does not use ATB (carried over from FF4). If you choose commands for all characters, friends and enemies act in order of speed. Defeat foes by making full use of job-specific special commands, such as summoning magic.

PIXEL ART GRAPHICS CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL

The graphics and sound effects that capture the atmosphere of the original are faithfully reproduced. On top of that, the UI has been optimized for smartphones and auto battle has been added. Moving and entering commands during battle could feel a bit awkward at times, but otherwise I was able to play comfortably without any trouble. Features such as a monster picture book, illustration gallery, and sound player have also been included, so even players who finished the 3D remake will find it offers a completely different impression.

BUILD YOUR CHARACTERS THROUGH JOB CHANGES

Characters gain experience points in battle and grow stronger, while their proficiency rises according to their job. Once you raise proficiency, your character performs better than usual in the target job. (The original version used a capacity system that made job changes easier, but the remastered version uses a CP system, which has made that system obsolete.) Warrior, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, Dragoon, Illusionist, and more are available. Progress through the game, unlock various jobs, and switch between them to suit each situation as you develop your party.

EARLY GAME TIPS

Once you reach the village after clearing the Altar Cave, go straight to the warehouse on the north side without arranging your equipment first. Solve a simple gimmick there and move to the back, and you can obtain items such as a long sword and leather armor. With these in hand, you can skip buying unnecessary gear.
