FINAL FANTASY BE: WOTV is a complete tactical RPG developed from scratch by SQUARE ENIX and gumi. It carries over the world view of the smartphone RPG “FFBE” while bringing in familiar Final Fantasy systems such as “Jobs” and “Abilities.” Your growing units can unlock new jobs, and each unit can master several jobs and abilities. 3D TACTICAL BATTLES THAT RECALL FFT!

Fight across fields with height differences, with both auto and double-speed modes available. Surrounded by great powers, the nation of “Lionis” has inherited the “Vision” ring, a power that lets its wielders bring their thoughts to life in combat. The twin princes Mont and Stel, born in Lionis, joined forces for the sake of their nation, yet a series of cruel fates quietly strained their bond. The battles you encounter as the story unfolds are turn-based, with enemies and allies acting in the order their CT gauges fill. Move across the field to attack foes, use a variety of abilities, unleash special Limit Bursts (LB), and summon powerful allies to secure victory.

HIGH-QUALITY BATTLE PRODUCTION AND PLENTY OF CONTENT

An original story unfolds while inheriting the world view and visions from FFBE. At the start, Mont and Stel appear friendly, but as the story goes on, the heroine finds herself caught between swords, hinting at dramatic developments to come. The way the story is presented recalls the Ogre Battle series and FF Tactics, and the cinematic production of LBs and summons is excellent too. Even in battle, I enjoyed strategic fights that took jobs, abilities, elements and more into account on maps with height differences.

Both solo and multiplayer modes are included, widening the range of unit development and play in each mode. However, the game also features a Trust Master system, which is just as hard to obtain as it was when FFBE first launched (it doesn’t feel possible without items like Tramog).

Gacha pulls bundle units and vision cards together. Only a few numbered units have been recorded, and moving units to designated spots in battle is tricky, so it clearly feels like adjustments will come after release. At the very least, I'd like the target unit to be confirmed when pulling 10 gachas in a row.

Each unit has multiple jobs, and abilities can be learned as well. Units have levels, equipment, abilities in the form of jobs and skill boards, vision cards, and training menus such as Awakening and Limit Breaking. Units are mainly obtained through gacha, which includes both units and vision cards. Rarity in this game runs UR > SSR > SR, and the top-rank UR appearance rate is 2% for units only.
