In Training mode you can run the course on your own, which helps you learn how sensitive the rudder and mainsheet are. You'll need to work the rudder and sails to match the wind and reach the finish line within 5 minutes. A speed indicator shows how well you're trimming the sails and choosing your heading relative to the wind angle. Every practice run is tracked in a box so you can follow your own route, check where the buoys are, and see the position of your opponent when they're out of view. Wind strength and direction can change during the tests, but both players face the same conditions, even if they don't race at the same time.ChallengesA green circle beside a player's name means they're online and open to a challenge. Next to each name you'll also find a chat box for talking with opponents. If the player you challenge isn't online yet but later accepts, you can start your first run alone. They will then race against your ghost, which shows your boat's path so they can feel like they're competing in real time. The standard right-of-way rules apply: the boat with its wind on the starboard side, and the one that is downwind when all else is equal, has priority. Anyone who ignores these rules takes a penalty of 10 seconds before restarting. Right-of-way only applies when both players are racing at the same time. Each regatta consists of 3 races, and every race gives you 5 minutes to complete the course. Whoever wins two races takes the regatta.Sail and hull conditioneSailingCup is a regatta simulator that reproduces real boat behavior. Speed and handling depend on the wind, and the condition of the boat's parts matters too: sails wear down with use, and the hull needs cleaning after a certain time. To keep your boat at 100% efficiency, replace the sails and clean the hull once you pass the deadline. You'll need enough points to do either.Points systemWinning a regatta earns you 3 points. Points can be spent on replacing sails, cleaning the hull, or upgrading your boat: you can fit carbon sails, swap in a lighter hull, or buy sunglasses that show you where the mark is when it leaves the screen. You can also earn points by answering the quiz for your boat license, where getting 5 questions right earns one point. Finally, you can buy points directly if you need them for a trophy entry. Your profile always shows your boat's condition and how many points you have available.
