Drums Engineer is a tool for building drum loops and rhythms. You don't need much musical experience to get started, and even complete beginners can pick it up quickly. When you're done, you can export your composition as a MIDI file and load the beats into your DAW.

There are two ways to create a drum beat. The first is manual: you place the notes for each drum instrument yourself. This takes more effort, but everything you produce is entirely your own. The second is automatic mode, which suits most people better. Tap the COMPOSE button and the algorithm generates a drum groove or fill for you. It's far quicker, though some of the results may sound familiar to other listeners. Either way, feel free to jump in and start experimenting!

Drum grooves and fills can be auto-composed using up to 64 notes, with a selectable note length. You can adjust the tempo by tapping on the keyboard, and a swing mode is also available. The app offers 45 drum instruments, and you can save your creations as MIDI files to reopen whenever you like. You can also change the time signature and the volume of each instrument.

The first time you open the app, you'll see three tabs. The INSTRUMENTS CONTROL PANEL sits on the left side of the screen, the BEATS pane is on the right, and the APP CONTROL pane is on the left as well. Each instrument in music can only play within a specific range of notes. In Settings, you can choose how many notes are displayed. When a box is checked, that step produces a sound; when it's unchecked, it stays silent. You build the instrument's beat by checking and unchecking these boxes.
