Dota Underlords is a standalone strategic auto-battler developed by Valve specifically for Android devices. Chess-inspired tactical battles have quickly evolved into a massive global mobile gaming sensation, prompting the creators of Dota 2 to join the arena. Back in late 2018, Valve introduced Artifact, a Dota-themed digital card title that unfortunately lost momentum shortly following its debut. Stepping away from that project to explore fresh directions, the studio has now brought us Dota Underlords. Meanwhile, Chinese developer Drodo Studio had previously pioneered this format with Auto Chess Mobile, inspired by their original custom map within Dota 2. The genre has since captivated millions of players worldwide, establishing itself as one of today's most celebrated mobile gaming hits.
