Dark Throne is a 3D action RPG built around a wide range of missions in a world taken over by demons. Set in the land of “Eisendar,” which has fallen under demonic control, players face monsters and demons that roam the land disguised as adventurers. Pick one of three classes, venture into the demon realm, defeat enemies, carefully choose the gear they drop, and keep retrying the dungeon. It's a game built for fans of classic hack-and-slash combat.

TAP-BASED ACTION BATTLES!

From the portal at your base, you can enter a maze-like dungeon in the demon realm. Rather than relying on a gamepad, you simply tap the screen to move your character, and once you're within range of an enemy, a normal attack fires automatically. Combine these attacks with class-specific active skills to defeat the foes waiting on every floor.

DARK THRONE OFFERS A DARK FANTASY WORLD AND A ROYAL ROAD SYSTEM

The game paints a heavy dark fantasy world inspired by the demon realm, and its monster designs, including large spiders and other creatures, look great. Combat can be as simple as tapping the screen, and depending on your class, you can strike and then retreat to keep distance from enemies. That said, the stages feel quite similar to one another and rarely change, and I would have liked a gamepad option instead of tapping. A button-driven control scheme with the satisfying feel of a real slash would have made combat much more engaging.

FIND GEAR AND CHOOSE WISELY!

Characters belong to classes such as Holy Knight, Assassin, and Devil Hunter, each with distinct controls and abilities. Defeating enemies in the dungeon drops funds and equipment, but every class has gear restrictions, so be sure to sell what you don't need. Menus for equipment synthesis and upgrades also unlock as you progress through the game.

DARK THRONE EARLY-STAGE STRATEGY TIPS

There's no story-driven adventure segment, so in the early game you'll repeatedly pick, repair, and upgrade equipment as you move between dungeon runs and the base. Talk to the old man near the dungeon portal and he'll fill you in on the situation, so it's worth listening to him as you tackle the dungeon.

UNLOCK NEW CONTENT BY LEVELING UP

After clearing the dungeon, head to the altar near the portal and fill up your experience points. When the gauge is full, your character levels up and their stats improve, and once certain conditions are met, features like weapon synthesis and upgrades become available. Be careful with the synthesis menu: combining duplicate equipment can transform it into a completely different piece of gear. Keep in mind that synthesizing a weapon you have equipped may turn it into equipment for another class.
