Dreaming of running your own restaurant? If you've already played My Hotpot Story and find yourself wanting something new, you're in the right place. Today we're looking at a game that shares much of My Hotpot Story's gameplay but takes its humorous charm from the Jjaltoon Comics series, Alley Restaurant Tycoon. With its playful style, this one should give you plenty of fresh ideas once you start playing.
Introducing Alley Restaurant Tycoon
Alley Restaurant Tycoon puts you in charge of a small eatery and challenges you to grow it into a well-known dining spot. You decide how to decorate the place and how to arrange the space so it looks most appealing to customers. It's an idle-style offline game, so you won't need to commit large blocks of time to enjoy it.
Gameplay
Much like My Hotpot Story, Alley Restaurant Tycoon revolves around running a restaurant. At the very beginning, the shop is at its most challenging, since your limited funds mean you'll handle everything yourself, from serving and cooking to working the register. It takes a lot of effort at first, but once you've earned enough money, you can hire staff who will lighten the load.
Once you have hired a good number of employees, you can attract more customers by pressing and holding the customer attraction button in the lower right corner of the screen. Work on upgrading and developing your restaurant by collecting plenty of fan points, which unlock new utensils, menus, and other features. You earn fan points by completing tasks, buying furniture, serving dishes, and doing many other things, so they're fairly easy to gather.
Lobby
The lobby is where your customers sit down and eat. When you're just starting out and the restaurant is still small, plastic tables and chairs should be your top priority, since there's no need to splurge on anything fancy. Collect as many fan points as you can to unlock additional dining tables.
Once you've reached the maximum number of dining tables, you can use your funds to make the dining room more impressive. You can upgrade the cash register, tables, chairs, or menus, and you can also buy dessert makers and flower pots. If you'd rather not keep the tile floor as it is, you can change it through upgrades. The lobby items come in many designs, so there's plenty to choose from.
Kitchen
In the kitchen of Alley Restaurant Tycoon, you'll find many kinds of cabinets and stoves to purchase for preparing your dishes. The most important early purchase is a gas oven, since most of your dishes depend on it. As in the lobby, you can upgrade kitchen equipment to make it more high-end and more productive. You can improve your gas oven to speed up cooking, or buy other appliances such as a fryer, refrigerator, or microwave.
New dishes often require particular tools, so you'll usually need to make a purchase to unlock them. It's a good idea to focus first on upgrading your gas ovens, then shop for and upgrade everything else. Beyond appliances, you can personalize the kitchen with slogans, paintings, or different floor tiles.
Menu
Alley Restaurant Tycoon features a very varied menu with 30 different dishes. Each one has its own unlock requirements, so you'll need to meet them before you can sell that dish. Once you've spent money to buy the ingredients, you can add the dish to your menu and start serving customers.
You can also raise the star rating of each dish, not just unlock new ones. Every dish tops out at 5 stars, and at that level it becomes the most premium, tastiest version, bringing in higher sales. Higher star ratings also shorten the time it takes to prepare the dish.
Staff
The staff in Alley Restaurant Tycoon are inspired by the Jjaltoon Comics series, which gives them a highly amusing and distinctive look. Your restaurant staff fall into three main groups: cashiers, lobby staff, and kitchen staff.
All of them work part-time, so you'll need to pay them money or give them water to keep them working at their best. Staff contribute a great deal to running the restaurant, so don't hesitate to spend some of your earnings on hiring them.
Upgrade the restaurant's exterior
Beyond the interior, the outside of the restaurant also offers several upgrades, including the building itself, advertising signs, and the waiting area for customers. These improvements are important for attracting more visitors. Once your restaurant is fully equipped, invest a large sum to open another branch.
As you open new branches, your workload grows, but so do your profits. There are five restaurant branches in total for you to acquire. Work toward owning them all to turn your little restaurant into a famous chain across the area.
