Age of Apes is a base-building game in which you help a group of monkeys construct their settlement on a nearly wrecked planet. In Age of Apes, you'll find yourself in a world scarred by humanity's final war, which wiped out almost everything. The monkeys managed to survive the fighting, but life was still harsh since no bananas were left anywhere. In this chaotic moment, six of the strongest monkeys stepped forward to lead the way and begin the mission of conquering space in search of bananas. They also set out to build rockets for the journey.

A rocket capable of flying into the sky needs a steady supply of energy from uranium, a material that is common on a planet shaped by war. Once the rocket has absorbed enough energy, it is ready to launch at any moment, and everything seems stable at first, until it suddenly explodes. As it reached a certain altitude, the rocket gave in to the pressure, and the blast scattered its pieces across different locations. The monkeys keep gathering the debris and carrying out research.

Develop Bases with Different Buildings

After witnessing the monkeys' defeat in Age of Apes, you'll help them grow their base and work toward various development goals. Your first priority is constructing the buildings you need. You can also send a group of monkeys to any location to gather resources, a mechanic that comes into play when collecting uranium early in the game. Plenty of other items can be found with the same approach.

Much of the map in this game is hidden under fog, making it hard to locate debris even though you can swipe to any location. To explore these areas, you'll want an intel station, which unlocks scout monkeys. These scouts fly out to places you choose, and wherever they travel, the fog lifts to reveal the search target.

Some rocket fragments are scattered around the Age of Apes environment and can be collected, but mutant monkeys control much of the rest. These monkeys reject peace, so conflict is at the heart of nearly everything. Your next two buildings should be the Arena, where you can recruit a fighter, and the Pilot's Camp, where you train different units.

Once your preparations are complete, you'll use the available energy to teleport your base close to the rocket debris. You'll also choose which target to attack first to defend your base, and the battle plays out automatically. Over time, the outcome depends on strength, and fighters can build up energy and unlock special skills that support their teammates and strike enemies.
